LAHORE, Aug 22: The Punjab Highway Patrol claimed on Monday to have arrested three car thieves, an alleged robber, and a proclaimed offender in last three days.

According to a release issued on Monday, a PHP team posted at Jhok Morr, Jhang, received information that a stolen car (LEA-3930) was coming from Faisalabad towards their post. The PHP teem signalled the car to stop, but the driver opened fire at the officials. The PHP personnel retaliated and overpowered the driver identified as Usman Ishaq, of Rawalpindi, after he received a bullet in his leg. The PHP also arrested two others, identified as Rizwan and Sajid Ali, and seized the stolen car and unlicenced weapons.

A PHP team of Chak 96/GB, Faisalabad, was patrolling near Rodi Morr Chak 124/GB, when it saw a group of 12 suspects and challenged them. The gunmen started firing which was repulsed by the PHP. The PHP personnel captured one of the suspects identified as Waseem Akram, of Sharaq Pur, while others fled.

On a tip-off, a PHP team of Nandi Pur, Gujranwala, captured a proclaimed offender, Abdul Rsheed, alias Goga, of Rehman Pura, Narowal, who was wanted in three cases registered with Niddokey police.
