LAHORE, June 26: Police claimed to have arrested 38 proclaimed offenders, 48 court absconders and 17 target offenders during a crackdown launched on criminals during the last 24 hours.

According to a Lahore police spokesman, the operations police also took 34 people having illegal arms and 60 drug peddlers into custody during the operation in six police divisions.

Police teams also seized a large quantity of weapons, including rifles and pistols, 450 cartridges, two kilogramme heroin, nine kilogramme charas, nine kilogramme hashish and two kilogramme opium besides 450 bottles of liquor.

The police detained 79 gamblers in 26 new cases and recovered stake money and valuables worth Rs275,000 from them.
