LAHORE, June 14: The Lahore Development Authority director general on Tuesday terminated contracts of two assistant directors and suspended three other officials from service for allegedly misappropriating official fuel worth Rs5 million during the fiscal 2010-11.

LDA DG Abdul Jabbar Shaheen took the action against assistant directors Rameen Chaudhry and Rai Shajar Abbas after allegations against them proved true during an inquiry conducted by Director (Administration) Shahid Fareed.

The DG also referred their case to the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) for launching a probe into the matter and recovery of the embezzled amount.

The DG, on the recommendation of the inquiry report, also suspended Ikramul Haq (supervisor), Safdar Ali and Muhammad Tariq (drivers) working in the Enforcement Directorate for their alleged involvement in the scam.

The DG ordered the LDA management to initiate proceedings against the officials under the Punjab Employees Efficiency and Discipline (PEEDA) Act- 2006.
