LAHORE: Students of plant pathology department of the Punjab University demonstrated against the department’s closure outside the vice chancellor’s office on Wednesday.

Few students tried to burn themselves by sprinkling petrol during the protest, one of the students Majid Hussain got badly burnt in the process and had been taken to the hospital by the rescue squad.

The university’s authorities ignored the protests completely, which infuriated the protesters even further on Wednesday.

The Superintendent Police, Allama Iqbal town told the media that they were trying to arrange a meeting between the protesters and the vice chancellor, and were hopeful that the issue would be resolved soon. – DawnNews
