ISLAMABAD: The assassination of Governor Punjab Salman Taseer was strongly condemned by the President, Prime Minister, all political parties, business community and Civil Society who termed the killing a tragic and shocking incident.

They expressed profound grief and sorrow over the assassination of the Governor of Punjab and paid tribute to his services for the country.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani strongly condemned the assassination of Governor of Punjab and directed Interior Minister Rehman Malik to personally supervise the investigations.

Describing the assassination as a 'most ghastly' crime the President said that no words were strong enough to condemn it.”

Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker and Faisal Karim Kundi, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf, Minister for Postal Services Israrullah Zehri, Minister for Industries and Production, Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, Sports Minister Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, Minister for Railways Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, Minister for Human Rights Syed Mumtaz Alam Gillani, Minister for Narcotics Control Arbab Muhammad Zaheer in their separate messages strongly condemned the assassination of Governor Punjab Salman Taseer.

Senior Minister of Khyber Pakthunkhwa, Rahimdad Khan, Sindh Home Minister, Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Mirza,Punjab Senior Minister Raja Riaz Ahmad, Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister Jameel Soomro, President Pakistan people's Party Punjab Imtiaz Safdar Waraich and PML-Q head Chaudhary Shujjat Hussain strongly condemned the brutal murder of the Governor of Punjab and termed it a great loss for the country.

They said his assassination has created a vacuum in the political scene and his services will be remembered forever.

President PML(Zia) Ijaz Ul Haq, MNA Chaudhary Abdul Ghafoor, Chairman National Commission for Govt Reforms, PPP Secretary General Jehangir Badr, President Asif Ali Zardari's special representative for Punjab, Naveed    Chaudhary, former PPP President Punjab, Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan, PPP stalwart from Faislabad, Badar Ud Din Chaudhary, Dr.Muhammad Akhtar Malik, Parliamentary Secretary, Finance, Aziz Ur Rehman Chan, Mian Muhammad Shafique MPA from Lodhran and others also condemned the murder of Salmaan Taseer.

They said that Salmaan Taseer was a loyal party worker who always offered sacrifices during dictatorship for the restoration of democracy in the country.
