Wapda dominates women's karate event

PESHAWAR: Showing great superiority Wapda stunned arch-rival Army by grabbing six gold medals out of eight weight categories in the women’s karate event of the 31st National Games being played at PAF Sports Complex on Wednesday.

Wapda won all but the 61kg and 45kg weight categories where Army’s players finished with gold medals.

Wapda secured gold in below 50kg, below 55kg, above 61kg, individual kata, team kata and team kumite besides winning silver medal in 45kg.

Army won the 45kg weight category and below 61kg besides winning four silver medals in 55kg, above 61kg, individual kata and team kumite.

The performance of Balochistan karatekas was also excellent as they finished third with two silver medals in 61kg, and team kata.

Railways won three bronze medals while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) also surprised many by winning four bronze medals. Sindh won a silver medal in 50kg while Police took two bronze medals.

Above 61kg:  Kalsoom (Wapda) Huma Tabasum (Army) Iqra (KP)    Rida (Police)
