SWABI, Aug 19: The entire mountainous region of Gadoon Amazai is still cut off from Swabi district and rest of the country 23 days after floods washed away the Besak Bridge.

The bridge, on Topi-Gadoon road, was the only link to the 10 union councils of Gadoon belt and the same road was linking Swabi with Haripur and Buner districts through the mountains. People also used the same route to reach Kala Dhaka in Mansehra district.

Residents of the area said on Thursday that despite their repeated appeals no measures have so far been taken for reconstruction of the bridge. Ghafoor Khan Jadoon, former provincial food minister and Hanif Gul Jadoon, former Swabi Tehsil Nazim, said that none of the officials of district administration had even visited the area to express sympathy with the people.

They criticised the lukewarm response of the government functionaries and demanded urgent help for people of the region. They said that people were forced to cover the difficult mountainous route on foot to get essential commodities from the Topi tehsil bazaar. THREE KILLED:

Three people were killed and four others injured in two separate incidents here on Thursday, said police.

In Mohallah Akhunkhel (proper Swabi), two families clashed over children's setting off firecrackers. Following exchange of hot words, members of the two families opened fire on each other. As a result, Qaisar Khan was killed and his brothers, Farhan Khan and Kamran Khan, and a passerby Shah Faisal were injured.

Sirajur Rehman, father of the deceased, has registered the first information report against Tanveer Khan, Adil Khan and Muhammad Sadiq.

In second incident, Salam Khan was killed and his father, Illyas Khan, seriously injured in Dok region when their relatives opened fire on them. The cause of the incident was stated to be the exchange of hot words over a trivial issue among the cousins.

Injured Illyas has registered an FIR against his brother Qasim Khan and his two sons, Shahab Khan and Sorab Khan.
