RAWALPINDI, Nov 24 The provincial government is spending Rs394 million on the construction of new academic blocks and establishment of computer and science laboratories in seven degree colleges in the city.

This was stated by Member National Assembly Hanif Abbasi while presiding over a meeting of heads of boys and girls colleges held at the Government Postgraduate Girls College, Satellite Town, on Tuesday.

According to an official press release, Abbasi said Rawalpindi would be made a model district with regard to provision of education and healthcare facilities.

He said Rs53 million were being spent on construction of additional classrooms and an auditorium in Government Degree College for Women Dhoke Kala Khan. Similarly, Rs25 million would be spent on construction of a new auditorium in Government Waqarun Nisa Girls College, Tipu Road.

Besides, Rs4.1 million had been reserved for construction of new rooms in Government College B-Block, Satellite Town, and Rs104.8 million for construction of new blocks in Hashmat Ali Islamia College.

He said Rs45.7 million had been allocated for construction of new blocks at the Government Degree College for Women, Zafarul Haq Road, while Rs70 million would be spent on adding a new block to the Government Girls College, Murree Road.

A sum of Rs68.5 million is being spent on construction of 10 rooms and other schemes of Government Degree College for Boys, Satellite Town.
