KHAIRPUR, Dec 24: A three-day celebration of 13th Urs of renowned sufi poet Faqir Janan Chun (Sadiq Ali) started in village Moondar Lakho on Monday.

Devotees of the sufi poet have arrived from Faiz Ganj and Sobhodero talukas of district Khairpur and other areas.

Faqir Janan Chun was born in 1895 at village Thariri Hajran, district Larkana, and joined Khilafat Tahreek in 1919.

He remained an active member of Sindh Hari Committee (SHC) and took active part in elections for comrade Hyder Bux Jatoi when he contested from the platform of SHC.

Before partitions, he used to do farming on a land owned by a Hindu and after the partition he was allotted that land but he distributed it among poor haris.

During his life, he struggled for the rights of haris and for the spread of the sufi thought.

Ayoub and Bhutto had allotted him agricultural lands but he distributed it among poor haris.
