KARACHI Lahore had to work up a sweat to overcome a fighting Peshawar 6-4 thanks to two-goal Kashif Shah and Abdul Khaliq in Junior Super Hockey League at Hockey Club of Pakistan on Wednesday.

Peshawar were put into a shock lead by Anees Akhtar in the fifth minute, while his teammate Zohaib Khan gave Lahore yet another jolt when he doubled the ascendancy in the 15th minute.

Recovering from a bad start, Lahore reduced the margin with a Kashif strike in the 32nd minute, while Khaliq, declared the player of the match, scored his first to put the game on an even keel in the 40th minute.

The winners continued mounting pressure as Kashif banged the backboard for his second in the 47th minute to make it 3-2.

Ghaffar stretched the lead for Lahore in the 49th minute with a penalty stroke.

Peshawar once again challenged the winners when they made it 4-3 through Zohaib who hammered home to complete his double in the 53rd minute.

Lahore took just six minutes to retaliate when netted their fifth through Khaliq. The game started fluctuating as Peshawar again fought back to score their fourth, Bilal Ayub finding the target in the 62nd minute.

However, Lahore had the last laugh as Jawaid was on target just seconds before the final whistle.

Abbottabad got the better of Larkana 2-0. The winners started with an M. Rehan goal in the 20th minute, while Abdul Qayyum scored the second on a short corner in the 31st minute.

Faisalabad defeated Quetta 2-0. Akbar Ali opened the scoring in the 28th minute, while Nughman Ahmad added the second in the 45th minute.

The last match between Multan and Islmabad ended in a dull 0-0 draw.
