I HAVE come to know that the Federal Investigation Agency has contacted Nadra to give punishment of six months to those who have two CNICs.

After hearing the news, I am extremely worried, as during my teens, I submitted a form to get my NIC with the name of Muhammad Afzal but could not receive it. After much wait, I went to the Nadra office and once again submitted a form with the name of Muhammad Afzal Bhatti.

When I went to get my ID card, I came to know that two ID cards had been made by Nadra against my CNIC No.35101-4139086-7. However, I just received an ID with the name of Muhammad Afzal Bhatti.

One day I lost my ID. However, I regained it from Nadra under the same name, i.e. Muhammad Afzal Bhatti.

On another day, I tried to get my SIM registered but I was told that my card had been blocked. I was shocked. When I went to the Nadra office, I was told that two IDs had been made against my ID, so I would have to pay almost Rs10,000 which was another shock for me.

First of all, making two CNICs against my name is a mistake by the Nadra as Nadra’s computer network system failed to recognise the fault. So, why is the fine of Rs10,000 being imposed on me?

Secondly, I have not received both CNICs from Nadra. I just received one. It means I have not cheated or deceived Nadra. So, why should I pay for a crime/offence I have not committed?

Another point is that I have come to know that the FIA has contacted Nadra to give a six-month imprisonment to those people who have two IDs against their name.

The question is: as I have not deceived Nadra or violated the law of the state, so why is the fine/punishment being imposed on me, a patriot citizen of the state? Is there anyone who can help me and solve my problem?
