THIS is apropos ‘Promising news: BNP-M is contesting elections’ (March 28). I agree that Sardar Akhtar Mengal has taken a bold and welcome step by declaring that his party is re-entering electoral politics.

The Baloch must be made to realise that their re-entering in the mainstream Baloch politics will be immensely beneficial to them, both in the short- and long-term.

It is important, however, that no one interferes with Baloch aspirations for socio-economic progress. Besides, the other political parties of Balochistan are encouraged to campaign for their civil rights and allowed to visibly enjoy the natural and material resources of the province.

Vigorous efforts need also to be made to compensate for the decades of injustices perpetrated on the Baloch by the federal and provincial governments during the last many years.
