IT was November 2007 when we got admission to Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS). We are the batch who was experimented for the new semester system examination in LUMHS.

We tasted all those experiments done on our batch with a hope that we would become the first batch to complete the five-year MBBS course in time.

For that purpose we took efforts ourselves and accepted all those new rules the university imposed on us and, finally, completed our graduation on time in December 2012. But since then we are at the mercy of our fate.

All the 360 fresh MBBS graduates are still waiting for house jobs. We protested earlier before our final year examinations and we were on hunger strike at the Hyderabad Press Club for many days.

At that time our university administration assured us of starting house jobs on time.

But none of the LUMHS officials is serious about resolving our issue now and says they have nothing to do with house job as this issue concerns the Sindh government.

In the light of this statement by LUMHS officials, we all do not have any opportunity to raise the issue directly with the Sindh health department. Our senior batch has started their house job in February and if we are not overlapped with them, then we have to wait for a year to practise our skill and serve the suffering humanity.

Waiting for a year to practise medicine is a wastage of time for us as our nation will be deprived of 360 doctors for a year. We request the PMDC and the ministry concerned to look into the matter.
