KARACHI: Sindh Election Commissioner Mehboob Anwar, who had replaced Sono Khan Baloch in December 2012, has been transferred to Punjab as chief of the Punjab election commission from where he was brought to Sindh.

Mr Anwar is being replaced by Tarique Quaderi, chief of the Punjab election commission.

Mr Quaderi was brought to Punjab from Peshawar where he was assigned the office of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa election commissioner following transfer of Afzal Khan as additional secretary of the Pakistan Election Commission in December.

Sources at the election commission termed Mr Anwar’s transfer an administrative decision as he was being sent back to Punjab to supervise election affairs there.
