KARACHI, March 3: Karachi braced itself for another shutdown on Monday following a strike call given by various Shia organisations and backed by transporters, traders and others in protest over the Abbas Town bomb blast that claimed the lives of over three dozen people on Sunday.

The Jafria Alliance called for the strike for Monday.

The Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen and other Shia organisations backed the strike call and also announced three days of mourning.

Representative bodies of transporters also announced that they would not bring their vehicles on roads on Monday.

Traders also announced that they would not open the markets in the city on Monday.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement also announced a day of mourning for Monday.

An MQM press release said that all organisational activities of the MQM would remain suspended on the day.

The Sindh government also announced a day of mourning in the province.
