LAHORE, Jan 30: A judicial magistrate at the Model Town courts on Wednesday remanded Nadir Feroze Khan, managing director of Efroze Chemicals involved in the PIC spurious medicine case, in police custody for two days.

He sent company manager Shakil Ahmad Khan on judicial remand.

The Shadman police produced the accused before the magisterial court and sought their physical remand for investigation. Opposing the request, their counsel pleaded that the police had illegally arrested their clients from outside the sessions court where they went to get pre-arrest bails extended. However, he said, due to the absence of the accused the court withdrew the concession of the bail.

The counsel stated that investigation of the case had been completed and physical custody of the accused was not necessary. He asked the court to send both accused on judicial remand.

A state counsel told the court that the police arrested the accused at the Lahore airport from where they were trying to escape abroad.
