ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned a meeting of the core group of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) at the President House in Islamabad, DawnNews reported.

The meeting will be attended by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, former premier Yousuf Raza Gilani, Mian Manzoor Wattoo, PPP Punjab leadership and other senior leaders of the party.

The meeting, to be held Monday evening, is expected to discuss key issues such as the upcoming general elections, the dissolution of assemblies and the caretaker setup, sources told DawnNews.

Other key matters, such as the demands of Pakistan Awam Tehrik (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri and a march in Islamabad planned by the opposition Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N), are also expected to be discussed during the meeting.
