MANSEHRA, Jan 16: Provincial revenue minister Shuja Salim Khan has promised early resumption of work on incomplete projects at Hazara University.

“I will take up with the chief minister and Erra chairman the issue of reconstruction projects left incomplete by a Turk non-governmental organisation at the university. I assure students and faculty members of the university that work on these projects will soon begin,” Mr Khan said at a function held here the other day.

Besides vice-chancellor Dr Sakhawat Shah, students and faculty members of the university also attended the function in large numbers.

Dr Shah apprised the minister of the problems faced by students and teachers due to incomplete reconstruction projects.

He said hundreds of candidates were deprived of admissions due to shortage of space, classrooms, laboratories and related academic infrastructure at the university.

The vice-chancellor said Light House, a Turk NGO, had left work on 10 academic blocks incomplete due to fund shortage.

“If these projects are completed, not only space for more candidates will be available but the difficulties faced by students and teachers will also be addressed,” he.

Minister Shuja Salim assured the university management that he would go all-out to help the university manage its problems, including financial ones.

He said enrollment of 9,000 students must not be overlooked and this fast growing university should be given all the help in its initial stages of growth and development.

Mr Salim later visited the premises and inspected the incomplete work on various projects.

He appreciated the phenomenal progress shown by the university in a short span.
