Fashion designer Zaheer Abbas is best known for his love of chiffon, airy silhouettes and his attention to detail — traits that set him apart from the rest. The AIFD graduate debuted in 2010 at FPW2 and has since received the Best Emerging Talent (Fashion) LSA trophy in 2012. He has also taken his label to the catwalks of Paris, London and USA.
“I believe in keeping it simple yet elegant, and the same reflects in my designs,” says Zaheer. The concept for this particular shoot was to combine distinctive pieces for a somewhat unique theatrical look. It includes jackets, skirts, pants, dresses, scarves, etc. Each look is further accentuated and underlined with accessories such as hats, necklaces and belts. Nabila styled the looks by adding colourful wigs, feathers, braided extensions and dramatic make-up.
As the key trends for this season include layering, textures, prints, accessories and metallic fabrics, the inspiration for this fashion spread stems from the fact that sometimes regular pieces can become boring, so by mixing it up and experimenting with layers is the new normal this season. It’s a simple idea, really: just work with whatever is already available in your wardrobe, but combine it differently and think out of the box. — Irfan Qamar
