Shah was the PPP's Member National Assembly (MNA) for the NA-212 Naushero Feroze-II seat.

The former PPP leader has recently been known for criticising his party’s leaders over “their wrong policies”, especially regarding the revival of local bodies system in Sindh. During the recent by-polls in PS-21, Shah fielded his paternal nephew Zuhaib Shah against his own party’s candidate following his growing disenchantment with the PPP.

Shah later accused the PPP of rigging the by-elections.

PS-21 fell vacant when PPP’s Dr Ahmad Ali Shah, Shah’s brother, was unseated by the Supreme Court because of his dual nationality.

Meanwhile, during the former PPP MNA’s meeting with Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday, matters concerning the country’s political situation and the upcoming elections.

Sharif, who heads the main opposition party in the National Assembly – the PML-N — said that the people demand that polls take place on time, and that his part would not let elections be delayed at any cost.

He added that the people, who had waited five years for the continuation of democracy, will hold all those elements accountable which are conspiring to delay the general elections.
