In the second week of November, singer Shafqat Amanat Ali was invited to perform at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi. The occasion was dedicated to poet Allama Iqbal. Not only did Shafqat A enthrall the audience, which included both Indian and Pakistani music lovers, with his music but also displayed wit and wisdom while making comments between songs.
For example, while beginning a number he said he didn’t know who in the audience was Indian and who Pakistani and hoped that’s how things would remain. Also, according to an Indian newspaper, Shafqat A became friendly with a woman older than him when she sang one of his songs which impressed the singer and he asked her if she had a boyfriend… jokingly. He also said during a radio interview that he was a hardcore romantic.
Hmm… Shafqat Amanat has, for sure, progressed as an artist.
