ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Thursday said that the democratic government is about to complete its term and will hold general elections in the country.
At the same time the prime minister warned that attempts by anti-state elements, who are trying their best to weaken the democratic agenda, will be thwarted.
He was talking to Parliamentarians belonging to Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Balochistan who called on him at his Parliament House Chamber.
They discussed with him the current situation as well as matters relating to the ongoing development schemes and issues regarding their respective constituencies.
The prime minister said that the present government has initiated numerous development projects across the country, especially in the far-flung areas to provide basic amenities of life to the people.
The prime minister urged the Parliamentarians to adopt a proactive approach and remain in contact with the workers as well as the general public so that they can sensitise them about the government's development agenda.
The prime minister said that despite the difficult economic situation internationally, an economic policy aimed at containing inflation and encouraging growth has been pursued by the government.
He said that the government was targeting vital areas like energy, food and social security for the masses.
