RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday extended the interim bail for Hanif Abbasi and other suspects in the ephedrine case until Nov 1, DawnNews reported.

A two-member division bench comprising of Justice Sagheer Ahmed Qadri and Justice Mamoon Al-Rasheed of the LHC bench heard the interim bail petitions of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Hanif Abbasi and other suspects here on Wednesday.

After hearing the evidence provided by the lawyers, the court extended the bail of Hanif Abbasi, chief executive of pharmaceutical company Danas, Ansar Farooq, former director general health Asad Hafeez, Col (retired) Tahirul Wadood Lahoti director Danas, Nadeem Zafar and drug controller Sheikh Ansar Ahmed to Nov 1.

The court was also informed during the hearing that Ansar Farooq was unwell. Upon hearing this, the court directed the superintendent of Adiala Jail to transfer Farooq to PIMS hospital Islamabad for medical treatment.
