ISLAMABAD, Oct 1: Speakers at a discussion here on Monday said the international community should formulate a law to regulate the operation of drones.

The discussion ‘Drones: voice of dissent’ was organised by ‘Capital Institute of Law’.

Speaking on the occasion, Alli McCracken from the US said a year back no one was concerned about drones in America but now almost every person is demanding that there should be an international law regarding drones.

She added that during the election campaign, President Obama had talked about peace but he did not fulfil his promise after coming to power.

Toby Blome, who visited Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, India and other Asian countries about 35 years back, said the region was the most peaceful area of the world but now the situation has changed.

Rob Mulford, an engineer of remote control systems, said he wanted to take pictures of people affected by the drone attacks and show them to scientists. “I will tell them that your designed devices are killing people,” he said.

Former US diplomat Ann Wright said politicians, including former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, should be made accountable for the killing of innocent people by drone attacks.
