CHARSADDA/GHALANAI, Sept 11: Unidentified persons blew up four pylons of 132 KV electricity transmission line near Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex in Kala Dher area of Charsadda on Wednesday.

Police said that unidentified persons planted explosives at the pylons in Kala Dher area on Charsadda-Mardan road that went off one after another. As a result, all the four pylons were destroyed, disrupting supply of electricity to the area, they added.

They said that two kilograms of explosives were planted at each pylon. The powerful blasts panicked people of the area. Police reached the scene soon after the incident and cordoned off the area. A case was registered against unidentified persons.

In Mohmand Agency, a government primary school for girls was blown up by unidentified militants in Prata village in Haleemzai tehsil.

Officials said that the school building was destroyed completely in the blast. Security forces conducted a search operation in the area after the incident and arrested two persons including the owner of the land on which the school was constructed.

Agency Education Officer Said Mohammad Khan told Dawn that the school was set up in 1986. The school was non-functional as staff was not appointed there, he added.

Officials said that 400 bags of cement owned by Fata Secretariat Special Programme (FSSP) were also recovered from the school building.

Meanwhile, a teacher of a girls’ school went missing when she was coming to Mohmand Agency from Attock district.

Officials said that the teacher, Robina Tabasum, went missing on Monday when she was on her way to the school. They said that she went near Shabqadar area.

The agency education officer said that the teacher belonged to Attock district. The political administration registered a case and started investigation to find whereabouts of the missing teacher.
