ABOUT five months ago, Sui gas connection had been granted for our village by the federal government.

We went to the district office at Makli Thatta where the staff advised us to contact the contractor, Sarwar Shah. When we contacted him, he said that each of us would have to pay him between Rs4,000 and Rs7,000 for our gas connections. We paid him the money but we have yet to get our gas connections. Besides, the contractor has been absconding ever since.

WE the undersigned residents of the Var village, Ghorabari taluka, Thatta district, appeal to the authorities concerned to take action against contractor Sarwar Shah, our hard-earned money be returned to us, and gas connections be provided to us as soon as possible.

If this contractor is caught right away and made to fulfill his contractual obligation and if he fails he should be sentenced to 20 years of hard labor. If strict action is taken the next contractor will think twice before defrauding anyone again. But that only happens when the rule of law prevails.

Well you were right till 'he should be sentenced to 20 years of hard labor' my friend. Let me complete the story for you.. 'But he comes out in less than 10 and later through some stroke of luck and of his own creation, he becomes the president of the country and upgrades himself from defrauding a few poor villagers to the whole country' How does this one sound?
