SUKKUR, Aug 12: Strike was observed in Ghotki and Bhan Syedabad and demonstrations were held in other cities and towns of Sindh on Sunday in protest against delay in issuing appointment letters to candidates who have passed test for primary school teacher.

All business and trade centres and bazaars were closed in Ghotki.

A procession was taken out by activists of Shehri Ittehad and nationalist parties. The protesters marched from press club to Peepal Chowk.

They said that candidates who had passed written test for the jobs were not getting appointment letters while candidates belonging to influential families were being appointed in violation of the rule of merit.

They demanded that the education authorities should immediately issue letters to those who had passed the test.
