ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and Awami Muslim League (AML) president Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed have decided to form a political alliance for the upcoming general elections, sources said.

The meeting took place at Imran Khan’s residence on Wednesday and concluded with the two leaders finalising the formation of the electoral alliance.

The PTI chief also agreed not to field any party candidate against Ahmed.

The sources knowing details of the meeting claimed that Khan will formally announce the electoral alliance during the AML chief’s public gathering, scheduled to be held at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi on August 13.

The two leaders will meet once again to finalise details of the alliance before the Rawalpindi rally, sources added.
