ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf tonight chaired a meeting at the Presidency to review the latest energy situation in the country. At the meeting in Islamabad, Zardari said that there should be no loadshedding along with continuous natural gas supply during Sehri and Iftar time, DawnNews reported.

Those who were present during the meeting included Ch. Ahmed Mukhtar, Minister for Water & Power, Finance Minister Dr. Hafeez Sheikh, Secretary General Mr. M. Salman Faruqui, Advisor to PM on Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr. Asim Hussain, Secretary to the President Malik Asif Hayat and other concerned senior officials. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari was also present during the meeting.

Ch. Ahmed Mukhtar briefed the meeting about the latest power situation in the country. He said that the all the high voltage power pylons in Muzzaffargarh have been re-erected and the power disrupted due to their damage has been added to the national grid.

The minister informed the meeting that the power situation was steadily improving and expressed the hope that with the rising water levels in reservoirs, the situation is further to improve with regards to power generation.

Dr. Asim Hussain informed the meeting about the availability of gas and fuel for the power generation.

The president directed that he should regularly updated about the power situation adding that Tthere should be no slackness in this regard as the power issue has become the foremost and the most critical issue.
