KARACHI: National People’s Party (NPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and few other political groups of Sindh will jointly contest next general elections in the country, particularly in the province.

A formal announcement on the electoral alliance will be made after meeting of their heads and top leaders in Karachi by end of next month.

This was agreed in a meeting at an Iftar dinner, hosted by NPP chairman and MNA Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, at his residence on Saturday.

PML-F chief Pir Pagaro, Sardar Ali Gohar Mehar, Ghous Bukhsh Mehar, Ejaz Sheerazi, Inayat Talpur, Mir Mumtaz Talpur, Mir Mushtaq Talpur, Dr Ibrahim Jatoi, Aqib Jatoi, Abid Jatoi, Nasir Shahan were among those who attended the meeting.

Later, while briefing media representatives, NPP Secretary Information Syed Zia Abbas and PML-F Sindh General Secretary Imtiaz Shaikh said NPP, PML-F, Mehar, Sheerazi, Malkani political groups would jointly contest general elections at the national level, particularly in Sindh and take joint decisions on political and electoral matters.

Commenting on talks with other political parties, they said “we are open for talks with the PPP, PML-N, PTI and MQM over elections, law and order situation, price hike and unemployment.”

Replying to a question, Imtiaz Shaikh said “we have reservations and concerns on the new voters list as well as the polling scheme in Sindh and have approached the Election Commission in this regard.”

“We have full confidence in Chief Election Commissioner Justice (R) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim and confident he would look into our reservations and resolve them,” he added.
