KARACHI: Funeral prayers for the two Rangers officials shot dead near Karachi’s Banaras area were held on Wednesday , DawnNews reported.

Police said that the Rangers’ intelligence officials, who were dressed in plain clothes were sitting outside a hotel in Ali Garh Colony on Tuesday when they were targeted by unidentified assailants.

They were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in a critical condition, but succumbed to injuries.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah strongly condemned the incident and directed the Additional IG Police Karachi and all the law enforcement agencies to ensure early arrest of the culprits.

He added that the  two Rangers personnel embraced martyrdom while discharging their responsibilities with regard to restoring law and order in the city, said a press release issued on Tuesday.

Following the incident, Ranger cordoned off the area and conducted a search operation in Orangi Town’s Bukhari colony and Ali Garh Colony areas.

Twenty five suspects were taken into custody during the door to door search operation who were shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning.

Rangers’ commandoes also took place in the operation.

Moreover, police was deployed on all entry and exit points of the area.

In other news, the tortured body of man was found on Jamshed Road No 1. The man appeared to have died from gunshot wounds.
