MANSEHRA, July 31: Threats of attacks by militants have forced the owners of CD shops in Oghi to switch over to other businesses.

“We have decided to switch over to other business to earn a respectable livelihood for our families,” a CD shop owner told a meeting held in Oghi on Tuesday.

The meeting was called by Oghi police to ask the CD shop owners and those who, screen video films in their shops, to remain vigilant and refrain from screening movies in their shops.

Besides Oghi SHO Mubarak Hussain the meeting was also attended by local elders and businessmen.

The owners of CD shops including Mohammad Riaz, Mohammad Hanif, Tahir Mehmood, Sardar Mohammad Ijaz and Wazir Mohammad said that they were fed up with their business and would soon switch over to other businesses.

“It seems that there is no respect in this business and that’s why we have decided to quit it,” they added.

It is pertinent to mention here that two persons were injured and a CD shop was partially damaged in a blast in Mansehra on Sunday.

ROBBERY: Armed robbers deprived a family of gold, cash and other valuables after locking the family members in a room at Iftar time here on Monday.

However, the residents of the area succeeded in capturing two robbers when they were trying to flee.

According to police, eight armed men barged into the house of Mohammad Siddiqui in Batdarian area during Iftar and decamped with 6 tola gold, Rs100,000 cash, five cellular phone sets, a laptop and other valuables after locking the inmates in a room.

As the robbers left the house, the inmates made noise and local people rushed for their help. The residents of the area captured two of the armed robbers at some distance from the house. The captured robbers were handed over to police.
