ISLAMABAD, July 30: The speaker of national assembly on Monday constituted a special committee to examine and scrutinise the necessity and utilisation of foreign and domestic loans obtained since 1985.

The Special Committee on Foreign and Domestic Loans has been constituted in pursuance of the motion adopted by the National Assembly on July 13 to probe the debt burden. Both the treasury and opposition benches had agreed that a house committee probe who did what during the past 27 years.

The joint motion had called for constituting a committee by the speaker to look into the ‘necessity of obtaining and utilisation’ of domestic and foreign loans obtained since 1985.

According to a notification of the assembly, the committee will comprise of MNAs Syed Naveed Qamar, Mian Abdul Sattar, Begum Shahnaz Wazir Ali, Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Hamid Yar Hiraj, Dewan Ashiq Hussain Bokhari, Abdul Rashid Godil, Jamila Gilani, Asiya Nasir and Zafar Beg Bhittani.
