KHAR/CHITRAL, July 18: Unidentified militants fired rockets at FC camp in the agency headquarters of Bajaur tribal region on Tuesday night.

An official said that unidentified militants fired two rockets at the FC camp in Khar from unspecified location. However, the rockets landed a few meters away from the camp.

“The rockets landed in a garden near the camp. The administration has started investigation in this regards but the location from where the rockets were fired could not be ascertained,” the official said.

The residents of the area said that security forces retaliated after the attack but no casualty was reported.

The administration launched a search operation in the area and arrested several persons under the collective responsibility clause of Frontier Crimes Regulation.

Meanwhile, a volunteer of Mamond Peace Committee was injured seriously when unidentified persons opened firing on him.

The residents of the area said that Tayyeb Khan was attacked by unidentified armed persons near his home. The attackers managed to escape.

They said that the volunteer had no enmity with anyone and militants could be involved in the attack. The volunteers of peace committee started search for the assailants.

In Chitral, exchange of fire took place between security forces and terrorists from across the border near Arandu area in Langurbat on Wednesday morning.

The terrorists opened firing on the security forces. The security forces retaliated and exchange of fire between the two sides continued for several hours. No casualty was reported in the incident.
