KARACHI, July 18: Pak Oasis Industries (Pvt) Ltd was on Wednesday recognised by Dow Water & Process Solutions, a division of the Dow Chemical Company, as the best company in the water engineering sector after having completed the first year of operations at its Nawabshah Ultrafiltration (UF) water treatment facility, says a press release.

The facility uses Dow’s UF technology to provide 14 million imperial gallons of drinking water daily, delivering a total of 20 billion litres of water over the past year, at $0.04 per 1,000 gallons.

In addition to the Nawabshah project, Pak Oasis has completed hundreds of water treatment projects, using UF and Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology in collaboration with Dow, supplying fresh water across deserts, arid zones, coastal belts, the tail end of canals and bulk municipal water supplies. As a result of this partnership, five million more people now have access to safe, potable water in Pakistan — $1.68 per 1,000 gallons of desalinated water.

To honour this successful partnership, representatives from both companies attended an event in Dubai, where Dr Ilhamkadri, general manager, Dow Advanced Materials Division, Middle East and Africa, and commercial director, Dow Water and Process Solutions, Europe, Middle East and Africa, presented an award to Pak Oasis CEO Omar Jilani, after a short presentation highlighting Pak Oasis’ successful use of UF and RO technology in Pakistan.
