KARACHI, June 26: A car chase of suspects after a house was robbed in the PECHS area late on Tuesday led to a deadly gunfight near Guru Mandir in which three armed men were killed, police officials said.

They said that Ferozeabad police received a complaint through police helpline that armed bandits had left a home after committing robbery worth hundreds of thousands of rupees that led to their chase.

“The police finally spotted the car and suspects inside in one of the society’s blocks,” said ASP Ghulam Murtaza Malik.

“Our team tried to stop the car but came under attack that triggered a car chase. Before we finally intercepted them near Guru Mandir, the two sides also exchanged fire near Noor Masjid in the PECHS.”

As the bandits reached near Jamia Binoria at Guru Mandir, they were stuck up in the traffic jam and finding themselves trapped they attacked policemen which sparked another encounter, he said.

“More police force joined us that strengthened our side and after brief exchange of gunfire all three suspects died of bullet injuries. All policemen remained unharmed,” added ASP Malik.

He said that all the bandits remained unidentified. He claimed that police recovered four pistols as well as cash and valuables from their vehicle.
