HYDERABAD, March 2: The three-day 'Living and Growing Together” Expo 2012' got under way in a lacklustre manner at the Expo centre here on Friday. The minister of state for overseas Pakistanis, Dr. Nadeem Ahsan opened the exhibition.

The exhibition has been organised by Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) in collaboration with Middle East-based Global Industrial Trade Company (GITCO).

“We need to give global exposure to local products of Sindh,” said the minister while talking to journalists after opening the exhibition. So far, he said, Sindh's products didn't get the response the way other products are given internationally.

“That's why we will try to get international exposure for Sindh's products,” he added.

He said that Hyderabad was the second biggest economic hub after Karachi in Sindh.

Stalls included those of balanced nutrition feed for livestock, handicrafts, beddings and electronics.

According to GITCO's Asim Hafeez, stalls of local motorcycles manufactures would be opened on Saturday. “They might be having some logistical problems on account of Friday that's why they haven't turned up,” Hafeez said. He said that free stalls in the exhibition had been given to women entrepreneurs.

He said that purpose of this exhibition was to develop a linkage between industrialists and entrepreneurs.

Hafeez said that the theme of the exhibition was very relevant because Hyderabad had the potential of trade that's why even Chinese goods' stall is there.

He said that expenses of around Rs1.5 million to Rs2 million have been incurred so far on exhibition, including that of publicity.

“It is GITCO's first initiative in Hyderabad and we will try to take businessmen's leaders from Hyderabad and Karachi abroad for arranging such exhibition to sell products and goods of their respective cities,” he said.
