LAHOR, June 7: Inspector General of Punjab Police Javed Iqbal on Tuesday transferred and posted five police officers.

According to a notification, Gujranwala SSP (Investigation) Shaukat Abbas has been transferred and posted Lahore SSP (Operations) vice Capt (retired) Muhammad Faisal Rana who has been posted Faisalabad SSP (Operations) against an existing vacancy.

Faisalabad Saddar SP Syed Hashmat Kamal has been transferred and posted Lahore Cantonment SP (Operations) while Gujranwala Saddar SP Muhammad Shoaib Khurram has been transferred and posted Lahore Model Town SP (Investigation) against an existing vacancy.

SSP Imran Ahmer, who was awaiting posting, has been posted Punjab Telecommunication SSP against an existing vacancy.

Sources privy to the development told Dawn that SSP Muhammad Faisal Rana, who was appointed as Lahore SSP (Operations) in February 2011 after his promotion, was transferred just after three and a half months solely because he had been working with former Lahore DIG Operations Rao Sardar Ali Khan who was transferred and posted Sargodha Regional Police Officer on June 2.

They said Mr Rana was the first officer in the Punjab who got second consecutive ‘key posting’ as operations SSP after the implementation of Police Order 2002.

The sources said as Mr Sardar was replaced by newly-appointed operations police chief SSP Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, Capital City Police Officer Malik Ahmed Raza Tahir decided in principle to transfer Mr Rana just because he (Mr Rana) served with Mr Sardar.

Mr Sardar was transferred from Lahore police after he developed differences with the CCPO over some policy matters and transfers and postings of station house officers, the sources added.

Shaukat Abbas has been appointed as Lahore SSP (Operations) as he has been serving under both CCPO Tahir and DIG Dogar in Gujranwala. PASS OUT: As many as 570 police officials completed their 5th Upper and 8th Intermediate class courses at Lahore Chuhng Training School on Tuesday.

The officials passing-out parade was held at Chuhng PTS which was witnessed by Punjab additional IG (Investigation) Muhammad Azam Joyia.

Joyia, speaking on the occasion, urged the officials to serve the people with honesty, devotion and dedication.

He also distributed prizes among the position holders.
