MUZAFFARABAD, May 14: Two more members of Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan’s cabinet have stepped down as his government has lost majority having the support of only 18 members in the currently 48-member Legislative Assembly.
Those who tendered resignation were minister for health services and college education Dr Najeeb Naqi and minister for transport Hafiz Ahmed Raza Qadri. Both joined the AJK chapter of the PML-N.
Mr Qadri returned to the AJK Assembly in February last year from LA-40, Valley-5, a constituency located mainly in Rawalpindi district, on the ticket of ruling Muslim Conference, through by-election after the death of his father Alhaj Sanaullah Qadri.Sources said Mr Qadri called on AJK premier two days ago and told him that he was under tremendous pressure from his voters and supporters that he should join the AJK chapter of the PML-N.
Dr Naqi, who was elected in 2006 from district Sudhnoti, was also said to have told the PM that he could not continue with him due to some family commitments.
Dr Naqi is son-in-law of senior PML-N leader Ghulam Dastgir Khan and brother-in-law of PML MNA Khurram Dastgir Khan.
Five ministers of Sardar Attique cabinet have resigned since May 5. Prior to that, the prime minister himself removed two other ministers after leveling different allegations against them.
