KARACHI: Two members of the national team, pacer Wahab Riaz and middle-order batsman Asad Shafiq have been severely reprimanded by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for using a social networking site during the ongoing tour of the West Indies. A PCB official confirmed that the two players were reprimanded by the team management in the West Indies for using Twitter.

According to the details, Wahab and Asad violated their central contract terms by posting tweets. “Wahab (Riaz) had even posted some pictures of the Pakistan team bus on the social networking site which have now been removed,” a PCB source said.

Under the new terms of the central contract, the PCB has strictly prohibited players from using social networking sites on tours.

“Since it was their first offence they were reprimanded but if they do it again they will face heavy fines and may be suspension from some matches,” the source said.

Riaz and Shafiq have been the leading performers for Pakistan so far in the series.

The PCB has included some strong clauses in the new central contracts that carry heavy fines and bans for players who violate the code that prohibits them from speaking to the media without permission, entering into endorsement contracts without permission, breaking curfew hours on tours, signing up with agents without approval of the board etc. —Agencies

that's silly! They need to live a life don't they?? Celebrities from all over the world are using social networking sites! When will the PCB grow up?? It isn't like they were interacting with bookies or divulging team secrets! Kidults the whole lot of them!! (grrr!!)

PCB doesn't have much capable management or they don't seems to apply proper management practices. They need to improve their organization structure and build awareness in the team rather than prohibiting from public contact and affecting their social life

PCB has done right in admonishing these 2 rokies, wahab & asad, for violating contract....such actions will definitely prevent any further infringements from happening as the players will get the hint that the PCB management is monitoring....hope such level of scrutiny will continue in future.... Not related to above, but PCB will do itself a favor by painting its headquarters annually as it gives a very bad image to its organization that earns million of dollars....the PR Dept should know that Organizations worth their salt spend millions creating image of their clients, it will not take more than few lacs for annualy painting job but it will definitely enhance PCB's image a great deal.....
