Litjens meets Sohail for first time

LAHORE, Dec 8: Legendary Dutch penalty corner striker Paul Litjens Wednesday met Sohail Abbas for the first time and congratulated him on conquering his 267 goals record on Oct 8 at Amritsar.

"You are the man who broke my record. It's really nice to meet you," Lijtens said in a brief meeting with Sohail Abbas at National Hockey Stadium here. The famous Dutch player, who is here on the invitation of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) wished Sohail good luck in future and hoped that he would bring more laurels and glory for Pakistan in the future.

Lanky Lawyer from Amsterdam, Litjens dominated the hockey scene in late seventies and eighties by slamming as many as 267 goals in 177 internationals. Sohail Abbas has scored 272 goals in 217 matches till Tuesday's clash against Holland. -APP
