MARDAN: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has alleged that legislation regarding Waqf properties is in fact a conspiracy against religious seminaries to bring these institutions under the government control.

The JUI-F chief said this while addressing a public gathering at Darul Uloom Arabia Sherghar here on Friday.

The public gathering was also attended by his party leaders, activists and a large number of people belonging to different regions.

Mr Rehman said that religious seminaries were strong castles of Islam, adding that his party was committed to defending the religious institutions at all costs. Similarly, he claimed that the JUI-F would also defend the Tahafuz-i-Namus-i-Risalat.

The JUI-F chief insisted that the ‘selected government’ led by Imran Khan had ruined the country’s economy. The country’s both internal and external policies have failed, he declared, saying all the government institutions were on the verge of bankruptcy due to non-implementation of laws.

He warned that the country’s problems and issues would increase manifold if the incumbent government was given further time in office. He asked the opposition parties to forge unity against PTI-led coalition government to get rid of it.

Mr Rehman claimed that the JUI-F had become a popular party of the country owing to its bold stance over people’s issues and problems.
