KARACHI: An alleged robber was shot dead by a citizen during a robbery bid in Shah Latif Town on Friday morning, said police.

They added that Arshad Ali snatched the pistol from the alleged robber, Amir Husain, 20, and gunned him down when he was fleeing.

Area SHO Rana Maqsood said that two suspects riding a motorbike appeared at the Green Town housing society. One of them got off the bike and asked a roadside fruit vendor for fruit. As he picked up fruit, the suspect took his pistol and tried to snatch cash and other valuables from him.

The vendor got hold of him and in the meantime the 30-bore pistol went off during the scuffle. However, the citizen managed to snatch the pistol from him.

The suspect was fleeing when he opened fire on him from behind.

The alleged suspect sustained a single bullet wound on his back, which travelled from his heart and proved fatal. He died on the spot. The police and Rangers after receiving information about the incident rushed there.

The officer added that one magazine with four rounds was recovered from the suspect’s pocket.
