Protesters block a road in Lower Dir on Monday to demand arrest of killers. — Dawn

TIMERGARA:Hundreds of Jandol residents and traders on Monday demonstrated against the killing of five people, including four members of a family, in Munda area and demanded an impartial investigation into the matter.

Five people were killed and one suffered critical injuries when two groups exchanged fire over a monetary dispute in Gosum area of Munda here on Friday night.

The traders of Munda observed a complete shutter-down strike and joined protesters.

The residents and workers of political parties also attended the rally.

MPA Haji Bahadar Khan, Jamaat-i-Islami district emir Izazul Mulk, former district nazim Inayatullah and PTI leader Sarbiland Khan, who also showed up, said the incidence of heinous crimes had been on the rise in the area for two months due to the police’s neglect.

They said a man, his son and two grandsons were killed by rivals in Gosum Munda area.

The protesters demanded of the provincial police chief and Peshawar High Court’s chief justice to order an impartial inquiry into the killings questioning the police’s role.

Also, the civil society and Dir Qaumi Pasoon staged a demonstration against killings outside the Timergara Press Club.

Holding placards and shouting slogans, the demonstrators demanded immediate action against killers.

BODY RECOVERED: A teenage boy was found dead in a graveyard here on Monday.

The residents said 11-year-old Kalimullah of Gawardesh village had gone missing on Sunday. The Samar Bagh police registered a case and began investigation.

Meanwhile, district and sessions judge Kulsoom Azam inaugurated the monsoon plantation campaign by planting a deodar sapling at the district courts here.
