KARACHI: The wildlife department managed to recover seven crocodiles after they escaped from a farmhouse on the outskirts of the city following heavy rains, officials said on Friday.

Steel Town SHO Shakir Ali told Dawn that the owner of the farmhouse had several crocodiles in ponds at the facility near Gulshan-i-Hadeed. On Thursday, a wall of the farmhouse fell due to heavy rains and as a result seven crocodiles came out of their habitat and escaped.

He said that after receiving information from area people about the escape of the crocodiles, the police approached officials of the wildlife department, who along with the owner launched a search operation.

They managed to recover five crocodiles the same day (on Thursday) while the two remaining reptiles were recovered on Friday.
