KARACHI: K-Electric were left heartbroken at the DHA Sports Club Moin Khan Academy here on Friday night when they were dethroned as champions of the Corporate T20 Cup in a most dramatic finish against Omar Associates.

The low-scoring first semi-final of the seventh edition went down to the wire as Omar Associates sneaked into the final against SSGCL on the last ball of the match with nine wickets down.

Sohail Akhtar was the architect of the sensational result as the all-rounder followed up a decent 3-12 spell of seam bowling with a brilliant undefeated knock of 70 with his 57-ball man-of-the-match innings featuring four sixes and three fours.

SSGCL, in contrast, were well served by skipper Umar Amin (67 off 45 balls, five sixes and three fours) on their way to a 60-run rout of State Bank in the other semi-final.

And although they made mustered only 126 all out, K-Electric fought back spiritedly with young paceman Mohammad Musa Khan grabbing four wickets for 11 runs and the spin duo of Hassaan Khan and Mohammad Mohsin equally sharing four wickets between them.

Summarised scores:

SSGCL beat State Bank by 60 runs.

SSGCL 168-6 in 20 overs (Zain Abbas 67, Khushdil Shah 30; Usman Afridi 2-16, Taj Wali 2-25); STATE BANK 108 in 18.3 overs (Asad Afridi 35; Sohail Khan 3-30, Kashif Bhatti 2-5, Ahmed Jamal 2-15, Adil Amin 2-24).
