RAWALPINDI: The city traffic police officers have been directed to monitor their subordinates and submit reports about their activities to the higher authorities.

The directives to the traffic police were issued by Chief Traffic Officer Mohammad Bin Ashraf.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz Khan has directed the police to change their attitude towards the citizens.

He also directed the senior police officers to monitor their subordinates to ascertain if any of them was involved in corruption.

A comprehensive report regarding such activities should be sent to the higher authorities so that action could be taken against such individuals. The performance of all traffic police officials would be monitored by their seniors and a report would be sent to the IGP on a regular basis.

Meanwhile, the Waris Khan police seized a sophisticated gun (M-4) from two men on Saturday night.

Police said a team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohammad Arslan was on a patrolling duty when they signaled two motorcycle riders for a checking.

A police spokesman said during search the police recovered the sophisticated long-range automatic gun and booked two individuals identified as Maqsood Ahmed Mughal and Umar Farooq.

During the preliminary investigation, the suspects said they had bought the gun from Peshawar for aerial firing on Shab-i-Barat and were taking it to their home to get its trial at night.
