MUZAFFARGARH: Two revenue officials were dismissed from service and three qanongos transferred in the light of an inquiry report here on Monday.

According to the report, deputy commissioner (DC) office clerk Shehzad Mureed prepared transfer orders of four revenue officials (qanongos) five months ago on the last day of then DC Qaiser Nadeem in office and put his fake signatures on them.

Some local politicians contacted the outgoing DC and asked him about the transfer status, to which Mr Nadeem showed his ignorance and also alerted his predecessor Dr Ehtesham Anwar to get the issue probed.

Dr Anwar suspended the five qanongos and asked RTA Secretary Sehrish to probe into the issue.

She submitted her report that qanongos Asghar, Khadim, Mukhtiar Shah and Mazhar gave Rs100,000 each to the DC office clerk for their transfer orders. Strangely, three qanongos were first reinstated and transferred back to their old place while qanongo Asghar and clerk Shahzad were dismissed from service.

Sources said all qanongos were found guilty but some approached high ups and saved their skin while one qanongo was made scapegoat. This is not for the first time when some DC office workers used fake documents. Three DC officials were sacked in 2014 for preparing their promotion summary.
