KARACHI: Gas supply to domestic consumers in several areas of the city was affected after an excavator busy in roadside repairs at Numaish Chowrangi accidentally hit the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) main pipeline on Friday evening.

According to an SSGC spokesperson, as a result of the accident, gas supply was affected at Numaish Chowrangi, Saddar, Garden, Lines Area and several adjoining areas.

He added that a technical team of the SSGC was busy in emergency repairs, which were still under way at the time this report was filed.

Gas supply is expected to be restored as soon as the line is repaired, the spokesperson added.
