LAHORE: A student of the Punjab University (PU) suffered multiple injuries after some activists of the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) allegedly thrashed him on the university premises here on Friday.

Identified as Usman Manzoor, the boy is a student of the Hailey College of Commerce of the PU and he was reportedly tortured by the students, including Zeeshan, Azhar Khan, Salman and Mohsin.

A mobile phone video clip of the incident also went viral on social media which showed Usman being attacked by the students at the PU.

The IJT denied the allegations, saying that two groups had scuffled over some issue and none of its activists was involved in the scuffle.

The PU administration rusticated eight students of the Hailey College of Commerce for 15 days for being involved in the clash. It also ordered an inquiry into the incident.

The injured student, Usman, filed an application with the Muslim Town police for lodging case against the suspects.
